The new Community Strategic Plan (CSP), which will cover a 10-year timeframe, will identify the community's priorities and aspirations for the future, and then develop strategies to achieve these identified goals. It will address social, environmental, economic and civic leadership issues.
As well as the myPlace 2021 web forum, Council has also instigated a statistically representative Community Survey, a dedicated feedback line, consultation stalls at Australia Day and the Bairro Português Food & Wine Fair, and discussions with Advisory and Consultative Committees.
The feedback reveals that the issues of most importance to the community are keeping streets clean and tackling illegal dumping, addressing graffiti, accessible and more efficient public transport, maintaining diversity, greening the area, other environmental issues such as energy efficiency and cleaning up the Cooks River, and maintaining local roads, footpaths and parks.
The next stage in the CSP process is the development of a draft Plan. The community will have an opportunity to have their say on the draft later in the year.
